The Day I Saw A Ghost

Walking through Wal-Mart with my family
Coming out of Electronics-
Stopped dead-the whole world paused
In that moment -the awkward "Hi", "Hey"
"So how's life?" "Good", "Yours?" "Good", "Are you still
with your girl?", "Yeah", "How are you and Don getting along?"
(her usual answer)"We're just there" "yeah"-
"I'm glad to see your family is still snobby", "yeah, heh"
"Well, it was nice seeing you","Yeah, you too"-
Followed by the weirdest, non-feeling hug ever-
She was so skinny! But then again-she always was
The feeling of her ribcage on her back
Like a washboard-"Well, you'd better catch up with your family"
"I guess I should", "Keep in touch"
"I will", "Later", "Later"...
